Toyota leads global sales
The Toyota Motor Corporation outsold the Volkswagen Group for the fourth straight month in October to remain the world’s top-selling automaker so far this year as sales of German company’s vehicles suffer following the diesel emissions scandal. Toyota’s group registrations totalled 8.35 million in the January-October period – more than the 8.26 million units than VW during the same period. The Japanese company has continuously out sold the Germans on a year-to-date basis since July. Earlier this month, Volkswagen said its Volkswagen brand sales fell by 5.3 per cent year-on-year in October – the first full month after Europe’s biggest car maker admitted to cheating diesel emissions tests. VW briefly claimed the top-selling title earlier this year.
