Musk shares epic photo of ‘Starman’

Source: SpaceX

On Wednesday, Elon Musk shared the last picture SpaceX was able to get of the red Tesla he sent into space with a mannequin driver, “Starman.”

SpaceX’s new Falcon Heavy rocket was successfully launched on Wednesday.

The Falcon Heavy was the actual star of the February 6 launch, but majority of the interest was with the Roadster which was positioned within a capsule in the rocket’s nose.

Once in space, the capsule’s walls were jettisoned to enable a few cameras to capture different angles of the space-bound electric sports car and the Starman.

You can watch the Starman stream at the bottom of this post.

Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world, with the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)–a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel.

Falcon Heavy’s first stage is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores whose 27 Merlin engines together generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft. Only the Saturn V moon rocket, last flown in 1973, delivered more payload to orbit.
