Chairman steps down

Suzuki Motor Corporation has confirmed that chief executive Osamu Suzuki is stepping down, following the false fuel-economy testing scandal. However, the 86-year-old will stay on as chairman with executive vice president Osamu Honda, 66, retiring. Replacements for the roles have not yet been decided. The changes will come into effect on June 29, subject to the agreement of shareholders. It was disclosed in May that incorrect tests had been used to calculate mileage for models dating back to 2010, with figures compiled from indoor tests on individual parts, rather than vehicle coasting tests.
