Posted on 14 November, 2016

Auto manufacturer, Hyundai will provide 60 ix35 fuel cell-powered SUVs to an electric taxi startup in Paris, France. The Société du Taxi Electrique Parisien (STEP), is set to become the largest fuel-cell taxi-fleet operator in the world. STEP already owns five of the cars, which convert hydrogen to electricity and water, and plan to own up to several hundred vehicles within five years. “With the memorandum of today, STEP and Hyundai Motor have committed to bring 60 additional ix35 Fuel Cell taxis to the streets of Paris,” says Thomas A. Schmid, chief operating officer in a statement for Hyundai Motor Europe. The new ix35 fuel-cell vehicles will replace petrol and diesel-powered cars that are already part of the fleet. The ix35's electric motor generates 100kW, with a maximum torque of 300Nm and goes up to 594 kilometres on a full tank.
