Kiwi Jeeps in recall

Posted on 07 September, 2016

Jeep Cherokee and Renegade models will be sent back to Jeep dealerships in New Zealand, as part of a global recall to fix an electrical issue. Driven.co.nz reports that Ateco Group New Zealand has asked for certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee and 2015 Renegade SUVs to be recalled this week. A total of 557 vehicles will be affected. An Ateco Group NZ spokesman said a problem with the cars’ wiring has prompted them to ask vehicle owners to take their cars to a Jeep dealer, where the issue will be corrected. There are concerns that the transaxle wiring harness could suffer intermittent electrical resistant due to insufficient wire terminal crimps. If the problem occurs, driving power could be lost. The spokesman says “there have been no reported cases of this failure in New Zealand vehicles.”
