New Suzuki S-Cross arrives in NZ

Posted on 19 January, 2017

New details of the Suzuki S-Scross, including specifications and pricing, have been revealed by Suzuki representatives. While the entry-level GLX has been dropped, the Prestige and LTD models have been revised. The five-door crossover hatchback comes two engine options. The Prestige is powered by the latest-generation K14C supercharged engine as seen in the Vitara Turbo. This Boosterjet engine produces 103 kW of power at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque at 1,500-4,000 rpm.  The Prestige model has a combined fuel consumption rating of 5.9 litres/100 km. The LTD contains the M16A engine, producing 88kW and 156 Nm at 4,400 rpm. A new 6-speed automatic replaces the CVT transmission in both the LTD and the Prestige. The Suzuki Prestige is only available in two-wheel-drive and automatic form, but the LTD has the option of two-wheel drive automatic and the four mode ALLGRIPiAWD (intelligent all-wheel drive). The suspension has also been reworked in both models, including changes to damper settings, and the S-Cross once again contains McPherson strut front suspension and torsion beams at the rear. Ground clearance increases by 10mm and overall height is slightly higher. Both the LTD and Prestige come as standard with fog lamps, integrated roof rails, keyless entry and push button start, dual zone climate control air conditioning, and cruise control with speed-limiter. Load capacity has increased by 10 litres to 440 litres. There are seven air bags, including driver’s knee, and hill-hold assist function. The S-Cross has been awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating and comes with EBD, braking override system and an ESP control system. The S-Cross LTD is priced at $29,990+orc for standard automatic and $33,990+orc for the intelligent all-wheel drive and is available immediately from Suzuki dealers. The Prestige will cost $33,990, and will not be available until March.
