New EV charger for Waikato park

Posted on 31 March, 2017

A new EV charging station has been installed at the Waikato Innovation Park in Ruakara, Hamilton, adding to the growing nationwide network grid. The WEL Networks fast charger will enable drivers to charge their EV from low to 80 per cent battery capacity in 20 minutes, and is located at Melody Lane, behind the Gallagher Core Facilities building at the Waikato Innovation Park. “People can now drive in, charge their electric vehicles and do business at the Park or grab a coffee at DeVice Café here,” said Waikato Innovation Park CEO Stuart Gordon. The Waitako Innovation Park is a hub for Hamilton technological businesses, housing nearly 50 Agritechnology, ICT and Research and Development companies. It’s the fourth EV charging station WEL Networks have installed in the Waikato region. The first was installed at Te Rapa in December 2015, with others following at Te Kauwhata and Raglan late last year. Installation is expected to begin at a fifth site in Caro street in the city centre in the next month or two. The chargers are free to use and appear on PlugShare, an app that maps out the electric charging network nationwide.
