Mitsubishi to live stream eclipse

Posted on 16 August, 2017

To celebrate the all-new Eclipse Cross CUV – destined for New Zealand in the near future – Mitsubishi Motors North America will live stream the continent’s first total solar eclipse in 100 years, giving viewers throughout the world the chance to witness the spectacle. On August 22, New Zealand Standard Time (NZST), Mitsubishi Motors will film the event and also try to capture in the same shot the earthbound Eclipse Cross and the solar eclipse unfolding overhead. Based on NASA’s calculations, that gives the production crew one minute and 57 seconds to capture the perfect shot, or they'll have to wait seven years for another opportunity. The ‘path of totality’ will cross the United States from west to east, starting on the coast of Oregon at 05:16am NZST and end in South Carolina at 06:48am NZST. According to scientific advisor Raquel Nuno, “only totality reveals the true celestial spectacle of the solar eclipse”. Mitsubishi will set its cameras up at a viewing site just outside Salem, Oregon – one of the first major cities to see the phenomenon. There will be three cameras streaming live, giving different perspectives. The live stream will begin at 4am on August 22 NZST
