Major roadworks on iconic strip

Protective fences have sprung up in front of dealerships on Great North Road as major roadworks continue. Great North Road is home to some of Auckland’s biggest dealerships including John Andrew Ford and Mazda, Auckland City Toyota and Giltrap Audi. Greg Brinck, general manager of Independent Prestige, an Aston Martin and Lamborghini dealership on the strip, says the council organised all the screens to protect the high-end stock on the site. “We had a little bit of dust on the cars, but there’s always going to be a bit of a compromise,” he told Autofile. “They gave us plenty of warning three weeks in advance and put protective screens in front of the dealership.”
