Linking up to plant trees

Posted on 01 December, 2015

A new partnership between business and environment groups will help to promote green infrastructure in New Zealand. CardLink Systems Limited, a subsidiary of global fuel-card provider Fleetcor, has established a programme to offset customers’ emissions by planting trees. Through a partnership with carbon offsetting not-for-profit organisation Greenfleet, CardLink customers will be able to contribute directly to rejuvenating native forests via a monthly subscription. Greenfleet’s first planting started in August at Atiu Creek in Auckland with more scheduled for next year. “We have planted more than 8.5 million trees around Australia since 1997 and this new partnership with CardLink will enable us to extend our reach beyond Australian shores,” says Wayne Wescott, Greenfleet’s chief executive officer. “We are looking forward to work with CardLink to help its customers take practical action on climate change, and to collaborate with conservation organisations and local landholders in to enrich biodiversity, build essential green infrastructure and enhance the value of farms.”
