Lexus concept goes high-tech

Posted on 22 September, 2016

Instead of high-resolution displays, Lexus’ UX concept will feature hologram displays in its information console, says Car Advice. The luxury marque revealed the concept two weeks ago, saying the model’s interior would have “imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience.” Underneath the instrument binnacle, the car features a transparent globe which displays data in both analogue and digital styles. In the centre console, a holographic display controls the climate control and infotainment systems. There are Remote Touch control pads on both the centre tunnel and driver’s arm side rest. The UX also features electrochromatic windows, which adjust their tint automatically depending on the amount of natural light outside, a removable sound bar, and cameras and in-dash screens that replace traditional wing mirrors. Stephan Rasmussen, head of the UX concept design team, says the brief for the vehicle was to “create something unique from a customer’s point of view: an innovative, three-dimensional, fully immersive user experience.” The UX concept will debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month.
