V8 team signs Kiwi

New Zealand racing star Paul Radisich is set to join Super Black Racing in this year’s V8 Supercars Championship (V8SC) as team principal to provide it with extra support and mentoring. The double world touring car champion has extensive experience in V8s after spending years behind the wheel as one of this country’s top drivers. Tony Lentino, Super Black Racing owner, says: “Paul has been involved with us from the start and has already been a major help, so to officially have him involved this season is great. Now we’ve got Prodrive Racing and him behind us, we’re sure we have the right formula to give this thing a good go.” Originally from Auckland, Radisich made his name internationally after winning the Touring Car World Cup in 1993 and 1994, which followed his NZ Grand Prix and Formula Pacific Championship wins in 1988. Radisich says: “Having been a young driver trying to make it on the international scene in the past, I know how the Super Black programme will inspire a new generation of New Zealand drivers and, as principal, my V8 experience can and will be put to the best use. “I feel patriotic about our entry, and I’m excited we’ve got some terrific foundations and motivations underpinning this campaign. Like the rest of the crew, I’m chomping at the bit to get on the grid in Adelaide.” Super Black Racing will feature at the V8SC test days in Sydney from February 7-8 before the first race – the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from February 26 to March 1.For more information, visit www.superblack.co.nz.
