Kia top in rankings

Posted on 26 June, 2016

Kia took out the top spot in J.D. Power and Associates’ annual new vehicle quality survey. The survey has been running for 27 years and is highly regarded in the US motor industry. It questioned 80,000 owners of 2016-model cars after 90 days of ownership and asked them what problems they experienced. Cars are ranked based on the number of problems reported per 100 vehicles. Kia had 83 problems reported, followed by Porsche with 84, then Hyundai with 92. Toyota and BMW rounded out the top five with 93 and 94 problems reported per 100 cars, respectively. The industry average for problems reported was 105 per 100 cars, down from 112 problems in last year’s survey. Volkswagen managed to slip in just under the industry average, with 104 problems. Of the 33 cars surveyed, Volvo (152 problems), Fiat (174) and smart (216) were placed in the bottom three.
