Jeep to expand range

Posted on 18 January, 2017

Fiat Chrysler has announced that the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk has been added to the 2017 New Zealand range. The Trailhawk is more rugged than the standard Cherokee model, with expanded off-road features. Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential is an adaptation of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension developed specifically for the Trailhawk and comes as standard. Approach angles are 29.8 degrees or 36.1 degrees when the lower front fascia is removed for severe off-roading, while the breakover angle is 27.1 degrees and the departure angle is 22.8 degrees. The Trailhawk models offer up to 10.8 inches of ground clearance. The 18-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires come with Kevlar reinforcement. As standard, the Trailhawk contains a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine, 550 NM of torque and 184 kW of power. As well as the introduction of the Trailhawk, Jeep has updated the Grand Cherokee range in New Zealand. These improvements include a new front fascia for the Laredo, Limited, Overland, Trailhawk and SRT, rear-view camera and rear park sensors as standard, and LED daytime running lamps. The 2017 Grand Cherokee has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and has a five-star ANCAP Safety Rating in New Zealand. A seven-airbag safety comes standard, with multistage, side-curtain, front-seat side, driver and front-passenger airbags as well as a driver-side inflatable knee bolster. New Zealand pricing starts from $64,900+orc for the Grand Cherokee Laredo, $89,990+orc for the Limited, $94,990+orc for the Trailhawk, $99,990+orc for the Overland and $114,990+orc for the SRT.
