Production numbers drop

Automobile production in Japan has dropped in the last 12 months, compared to the previous year. The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association has announced its automobile statistics for the fiscal year ending 2016. A total of 9,187,505 units were produced, a drop of 4.2 per cent compared to the fiscal year-ending 2015. However, March 2016 production units were at 889,501, which is up 1.2 per cent compared to March 2015. Export numbers were also up, with 4,582,525 units shipped overseas between April 2015 and March 2016 – up 2 per cent on the previous year. Automobile exports in March 2016 reached 404,004 units in March 2016, a jump of 1.8 per cent compared to March 2015.
