Holden announces limited edition Commodores

Posted on 19 January, 2017

On Thursday, details of three special limited edition Commodore models were released by Holden New Zealand to commemorate end of the Commodore production in Australia. Managing Director of Holden New Zealand, Kristian Aquilina, has said the three models will have a distinct Kiwi flavour and are named in honour of Commodore’s long-standing relationship with Australasian motorsport. The three models are on a limited run. Both the Director (based on the luxury Calais V) and Magnum (an enhanced SS-V ute) will be restricted to just 51 units in New Zealand, while the Motorsport edition (an SS-V adaptation) will have an extended run of 151 vehicles. 1200 Motorsport, 360 Director and 240 Mangum cars will be available in Australia. Potential buyers will have the opportunity to select a specific build number upon paying the deposit, but some particular numbers will be auctioned, with proceeds to go to a new road safety initiative to be announced by Holden later this year. The engine of the car is the base Commodore 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine, producing 304kW at 6000 rpm and 570Nm of torque 4400rpm, with some enhancements. Transmission and engine cooling packages have been developed to meet ‘GM level 3’ track performance and 20-inch split wheels and tyres.  All models come with front and rear cross-drilled brake rotors and charcoal Brembo calipers. The Motorsport and Director come with the first Holden-badged Magnetic Ride Control system, which gives drivers the options to switch between tour, sport and performance modes. The system also uses suspension position sensors on each corner of the vehicle to read road conditions and adjust dampers up to 100 times a second. The Magnum now contains same FE3 rear suspension tune as seen on the SS-V sedan.  All three models have been given special bodywork to signify their limited edition. The Magnum is priced at $74,290 and the Director and Motorsport both at $85,290. Interested buyers are strongly advised to register their interest on the Holden website or contact their local dealer.
