Heartland Bank appoints new CFO

Posted on 19 January, 2017

Heartland Bank CEO has announced the appointment of David Mackrell of Chief Financial Officer, who is set to join the bank on February 15, 2017. Mackrell is currently the Deputy CFO for Air New Zealand, and has held the position for over 12 years. The outgoing CFO, Simon Owen, announced his resignation last November amidst a strategy update and a renewed focus on digital lending platforms from the company. Heartland expressed interest in achquiring ANZ Bank of New Zealand’s UDC Finance unit, but was outbid by China’s HNA Group, who purchased UDC for $660 million earlier this month. Last month, Heartland Bank raised $20 million dollars and is seeking a further $10 million via a share purchase plan to bolster its capital and expand online capabilities, particularly data sourcing and digital origination.
