Ford tops sales

Registrations of new commercial vehicles amounted to 3,440 in August and were up by 334 – or 10.8 per cent – compared to the same month of 2014. Ford’s Ranger was the monthly top-selling commercial model with 735 units. It was followed by Toyota’s Hilux on 543 and Holden’s Colorado on 285. So far this year, the Ranger remains the best-selling ute with a market share of 16 per cent thanks to 4,228 registrations. Next up is the Hilux with 14 per cent (3,572) and the Colorado with nine per cent (2,391). The Ranger was also August’s top model overall on 735 units, and was followed by the Corolla with 621 and Hilux on 543. They are also the top three year-to-date models, although the Hilux sits above the Corolla. Ford topped the marques ladder for August for sales of new commercials with a 24 per cent market share and 813 registrations. It was followed by Toyota with 23 per cent (790) and Holden on nine per cent (295).
