Finals spot out of reach

Posted on 24 August, 2014

Emma Gilmour was encouraged by her improvements at the Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) round in Florida at the weekend after edging closer to her first final. Racing at the Daytona International Speedway on a track nearly double the length of the average competition one, the car dealer from Dunedin came fifth in the last-chance qualifier (LCQ) – just one spot outside the four cars that went through to the final. She made gains all weekend in her Rhys Millen Racing Hyundai Veloster Turbo finishing heat one in third. With her car running well, Gilmour was confident going into the semi-final and had a good start, but got caught up with two cars that spun in front of her. There is a month-long break before a double-header round in Los Angeles on September 20 and 21.
