Fastest Audi of all time

Audi’s second generation R8 coupe has been revealed ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. The marque is currently only offering the new R8 with a 5.2-litre V10 engine in two guises - the ‘standard' 532bhp version and the range-topping ‘V10 Plus' with 602bhp. Coupled to a lighter body weighing in at 1,454kg the V10 Plus can accelerate to 100kph in 3.2 seconds and top out at 330kph. Power is transmitted to the road through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The R8 gets the new fully digital Virtual Cockpit, featuring a 12.3 inch screen centred on the driver. Audi lets buyers choose from five upholstery colours and two leather packages and they can opt for clear-coated carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, centre console and door panels. An all-electric model dubbed R8 e-tron will join the lineup before the end of the year and the marque promises that it will offer a total driving range of 449 kilometres. It says it will be able to reach 0 to 100kph in 3.9 seconds. Audi says it will use the knowledge it gains from the R8 e-tron to build an electric sedan it hopes will compete with the Tesla Model S.
