Posted on 07 October, 2015

Dates have been announced for this year’s EVolocity. The electric motorsport racing event, which is returning for its second year, will take place on November 28 at Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Ruapuna, Christchurch. EVolocity 2015 will feature workshops and exhibits on electric vehicles (EVs), as well as introducing a “smart energy solutions” showcase. Those attending the showcase will learn about solar and energy storing technologies, and how to build or renovate a home which is optimised for energy use. Alongside the showcase, the EVolocity Challenge will be returning with 38 high-school teams taking part to compete for the title. Teams competing will be racing their own designed and build EVs. The weekend event will also include a race between a Tesla P85D, Ferrari and Porsche. The New Zealand Drag Racing Association’s fastest electric street car will also be featured, along with super-car demonstrations. EV shoot-outs are also planned with electric and combustion-engined vehicles battling it out. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 12-18 with free admission for under-12s.
