Eligible vehicles to be ESC exempt

As advised in VIA's (Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association) last alert, The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) are aware of the disruption to vehicle importation from Japan due to the stink bug issue, in particular relating to the new ESC regulations.
Posted on 26 February, 2018

The NZTA are pleased to advise that used MA class vehicles (over 2000 cc) purchased in Japan on or before 26 February 2018 will be eligible for exemption from ESC requirements. Importers will need to provide evidence that their vehicles were purchased on or by this date. VIA will assist all importers in completing applications for exemption as required.
