Dealer in rep. lawsuit

Posted on 08 March, 2016

A South Auckland dealership has appeared in the Manukau District Court on charges of falsely representing it's AA Appraised Used Vehicle Dealer membership. Zodiac Motor Company Limited faces 14 charges while owner Nezam Anwer faces six charges from the Commerce Commission under the Fair Trading Act 1986. The charges allege that vehicles advertised by Zodiac were AA appraised when they weren't and that the dealer was an AA Appraised Used Vehicle dealer when they were not. The Commission further alleges that even after the AA cancelled Zodiac's membership as an appraised dealer, the dealership continued to promote itself as one through its website, in radio advertising and at its car yard. The Commerce Commission declined to comment further, as the matter is before the Court.
