Concept hints at future

Kia has unveiled a concept SUV aimed at China that may give clues about a B-segment vehicle for other markets, including New Zealand. The KX3 made its international debut at the Guangzhou Motor Show displaying a fresh interpretation of the brand’s tiger-nose grille. While it’s the product of joint venture Dongfeng Yueda Kia, the concept is designed to fit in the marque’s range. It’s already working on a compact to be released globally within the next 18 months – and it’s likely to be hybrid-only. The KX3 is powered by a high-tech 1.6-litre turbo direct-injection petrol engine paired with an advanced seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The four-wheel-drive powertrain will allow drivers to enjoy greater traction and stability in all weathers and road conditions. Kia has yet to confirm whether the concept will be put into production for the Chinese market.
