Car yard's land up for sale

The land hosting one of Palmerston North’s biggest car yards has been placed on the market for sale. The land and buildings at 201-203 John F Kennedy Drive houses the outdoor yard and undercover warehouse for the local Turners Cars franchise and the neighbouring venue The Workshop. Together, the space is 7,454m2 of commercially zoned land and 2,048m2 of warehouse. Bayley’s Realty Group said the property generates a combined rental revenue of $246,829 plus GST per annum. Turners, a long-time tenant, is on a nine-year lease, paying $210,000 plus GST per year, and the Workshop bar is on a six-year lase, paying $36,829 plus GST per year. The property is to be auctioned on June 28 through Bayleys Palmerston North. Salesperson John Looney said the building has recently been refurbished and the high-profile corner location was a benefit for clientele. “Turners has occupied the site for 19 years and has recently renewed its tenancy for a further nine years,” he said.
