Ranger still strong

Posted on 06 November, 2014

Ford’s Ranger is the country’s most popular truck as it once again led its segment in monthly sales during October. And it has continued to win awards and comparison tests. Late last year, it was NZ4WD Magazine’s 2013 four-wheel-drive of the year. More recently, it came out on top in its big 2014 ute shoot-out, which compared the Ranger against competitors including those with recent upgrades. Corey Holter, managing director of Ford New Zealand, says the Ranger is continuing to win over private and business customers with many buyers making the switch from key competitors. “That’s perhaps the most satisfying – seeing so many customers, private and fleet, making the switch and for us it’s all about the customer,” he says. “We’re confident we have the best truck in New Zealand and Kiwis agree. “We’re really proud of the Ranger and its 2014 performance – having delivered all-time sales records three times this year, including back-to-back records in September and October.” Chris Masterson, the marque’s marketing manager, adds the Ranger has struck a chord with customers in this country. “The fact it was designed and engineered in Australia means it has proven capability in harsh conditions,” he says. “It fits perfectly with the requirements of customers across New Zealand and the world. When you look at the model line-up – with features such as Bluetooth connectivity, and then add high levels of refinement and capability – the Ranger provides customers with something more than just a work ute.”
