BT-50s join motorcross

Posted on 27 January, 2016

Mazda New Zealand has provided Motorcross NZ with a long-term loan of two BT-50 double-cab trucks. Glen Harris, the marque’s national sales and marketing manager, says the BT-50 is “a great vehicle” adding Mazda is thrilled that Motorcross NZ has started a competition involving the trucks. One of the BT-50s will be driven the length of the country before arriving in Christchurch before the opening of the NZ Motocross Championship four-round series, which is set to start near Timaru on February 7. On its route, the truck will pass through Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo and Palmerston North before heading to the South Island. The first five people to be in a Mazda dealership in destination towns when the ute arrives will win double-pass tickets to the round of the nationals nearest to them. Two prizes of $250 will also be offered to the person who accurately guesses the mileage it can achieve on a full tank of fuel. Contestants can follow the BT-50’s journey, and post their guesses, on the NZMX Nationals Facebook page. The first round of nationals will be held in Timaru, followed by rounds in Manawatu on February 28, Rotorua on March 13 and Taupo on March 20.
