BMW adds new petrol option to Tourer range

Posted on 05 April, 2017

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer gains a new four-cylinder powertrain option its line-up, alongside existing three-cylinder and plug-in hybrid options. The existing 218d model will be discontinued from the local range, which currently includes the 218i petrol, 220i petrol and 225xe plug-in hybrid. “The new 220i strongly complements the 218i in the range today and provides a new petrol alternative,” said BMW Group New Zealand managing director Florian Renndorfer.  The BMW 220i Active Tourer contains a 1.5-litre petrol engine generating 141kW of power and 280Nm of torque matched to an eight-speed automatic Streptronic transmission. The 220i achieves 0-100km/hr in 7.4 seconds, and fuel consumption is rated at 5.7L/100km. Pricing for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer range begins at $51,451 for the 218i, $57,990 for the 220i and $69,800 for the 225xe hybrid. Prices include GST but exclude on-road costs.
