VIA, (the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association), is considering ways of boosting its funds, and is asking members about its relevance and future after a $264,000 revenue deficit.

The industry is working with the NZTA to speed up identifying vehicles affected by the recall of alpha-type Takata airbags. The MIA is aiming for the process to go into a single database by the end of June.

Risk profiles for marques of all new vehicles exported from Japan to New Zealand are to be completed by the Ministry for Primary Industry before the new stink-bug season.
