Australian sales hit record

Sales of Australian passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles all set new records last month. The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) has just announced figures for April 2016, with a total of 87,571 new vehicles sales – 2.9 per cent higher than the previous best for April, set three years ago. Star performers were SUVs – up 7.1 per cent or 2,119 units on April 2015 – and passenger cars, which were up 4.7 per cent (1,656 units). The light commercial market is up by 2,052 units (a 14.1 per cent jump on April 2015); while heavy commercial vehicles were up by 88 units (3.6 per cent). Toyota was market leader in April, followed by Hyundai and Mazda.
