Alfa Romeo meets Lewis

United states athlete, Carl Lewis supported 330 runners in a collective attempt to break a two-hour marathon record. Nike’s “Breaking 2Together event" took place in Milan - the fashion capital of Italy, at the Piazza del Duomo, which was transformed in to a racetrack to mark the occasion. Considered one of the greatest of all time, Carl Lewis is a former track and field athlete who won nine Olympic gold medals and ten world championship medals during his career, leading to his nickname “the son of the wind”. Lewis was joined by another legend of the track - the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, which set the production sedan lap record in September 2016 (seven minutes 32 seconds), with development driver Fabio Francia at the wheel. Powered by a Ferrari-inspired 2.9-litre BiTurbo V6, the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 375kW and 600Nm give it a top speed of 307km/h and power it to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, making it the fastest and most powerful road-going Alfa Romeo ever. This Nurburgring record is now boldly displayed on the car bonnet, together with the silhouette of the "Ring" and the signatures of driver Fabio Francia and the staff behind the great Alfa Romeo. This special Giulia Quadrifoglio will soon join the fantastic Alfa Romeo Museum collection, La Macchina del Tempo. Still racing the wind: the Alfa Romeo challenge carries on. Sales for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio 2017 have already started in New Zealand, with a price of $134,990 plus on road costs. "The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio marks a whole new start for Alfa Romeo, a renaissance for a 106 year old company that has inspired generations of drivers," says David Smitherman, the chief executive officer of Alfa Romeo in New Zealand.
